Reasons for joining MacDermid

I joined the company in India in 2006 and then relocated to Japan 3 years later.  I was in a dilemma when I moved to Japan as I could not communicate in the Japanese language initially.  Within only a few months, I became completely accustomed to the new atmosphere – thanks to the support from my understanding colleagues and superiors.   MacDermid Performance Solutions has presented me the opportunity to learn many new things – both professionally and personally – which has made my life in Japan exceptionally pleasant.

My job and responsibilities

I work for the Research and Development Department at MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, located in Hiratsuka, Japan. The Hiratsuka facility is one of the multiple R&D centers operated by our company throughout the world. My key responsibilities include execution of various projects and coordination between the various R&D centers. 

What I love about my job

Being part of a global team, I work with employees from different parts of the world and it gives me an excellent chance to engage with a diverse group of people with varied interests and skills.My colleagues and superiors at MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions are genuinely caring individuals and that makes me feel that I am part of a big family with a great vision.

Challenges that I would like to tackle in the future

Our business is experiencing hypergrowth and many changes are happening around us, including a number of manpower additions. One of the challenges is to get adjusted to these advances while maintaining the momentum for continued progress.  Our company caters to an industry which changes rapidly and keeping up with our customers’ demands poses a real challenge. I am sure that I can handle this with the help of the highly professional people around me.

Career advice to foreign exchange students

Many people think that Japan is an isolated country but it is truly an excellent place to work and live. If you are willing to adapt to the changes and to accept challenges with a passionate attitude, then MacDermid will provide you with the right platform for a bright future.
